$100 per cutting board (not per person!)
Love our cutting boards? Want to make your own? Join Ian and the crew as they show you how to make your own cutting board, and at the end of the class you’ll be able to take it home and use it!
Perfect for cooking/ serving this holiday season– or even giving as a gift that will make your loved ones feel incredibly special, and you’ll be so proud that you made it! Our cutting boards retail around $120, so if you were eyeing one for this Christmas season, now’s your chance!
You get to design the cutting board. Your cutting board can be up to 16 inches x 12 inches, wood strips will be (but not limited to!) walnut, maple, purple heart, oak, and cherry. And at the end, YOU get the joy and satisfaction of saying, “I made that!”
Day 1: December 7th
We will have various wood strips that you get to choose from. Ian will explain the differences in the types of wood, why they’re the best wood for cutting boards. You will pick out what wood you want and then design the cutting board to the pattern you like. We will glue the pieces together and clamp them so they bond overnight. Ian will take your cutting board to his shop and plane them down, and then bring them back the next day.
Day 2: December 8th
Your cutting board is now starting to take shape! But it’s not done yet, to get that smooth surface we will spend the first part sanding your cutting board. Ian will show you the proper technique on how to do so. Then you will apply two coasts of oil on your cutting board to preserve/ make it safe for food. Ian will explain how this works, and the proper care of your cutting board to make it look brand new for the life of it. You will take the food grade mineral oil home with you, and complete a third layer at home. At the end of the class, you will have a beautiful, hand made cutting board, and the woodworking knowledge of how to build one yourself!
Limited spots available, so sign up before they’re gone! We’re looking forward to making some sawdust with you!
